WEEKLY GOALS #3 | JANUARY 25-31

I’m not going to lie, this week also sucked. In fact, I reckon it sucked more than last week. I went back to Brisbane on Thursday for a funeral of a family member and was there until yesterday (Saturday afternoon). It was awful to be up there with my family under the circumstances, but I was glad to be there with them. There’s never anything pleasant about the passing of an immediate family member. The best we could do was support each other and try to make the best of a shitty situation. It was one of those times where being away from Brisbane really and truly sucked. For every step I take towards being happy and comfortable in Sydney, situations knock me back and I return to an awful feeling of displacement and isolation.

Some people have the ability to push through a hard week and keep on track with their goals, and sometimes I am one of those people. This week, however, I was not one of them. I think the only goal for the week I successfully completed was the water goal, and to a certain extent my budget goal. My mum spoiled me while I was back (not going to lie) and I’ll show you my little Zara haul this week. I did buy one thing that doesn’t necessarily fall within the realm of ‘essential’, but it’s actually kind of important to me. I have bad shoulders and I prefer to carry my heavy crap to work each day in a backpack. When mum and I stopped into the Brisbane DFO, I found a backpack that I’d had my eye on for months in Crumpler for half price. Half. Price. It’s the backpack in the Bell range and it’s from last season, but it’s amazing and I love it and if I was going to slightly deviate from my budget, I’m glad I did it on a half-price bag.

Fortunately, I’m not one to dwell too much on missed goals and crappy weeks. I quite enjoy picking up the pieces, regrouping, and working towards a better seven days. With this in mind, my weekly goals for January 25-31 are:

★ Drink at least 2L of water each day (I’m going to take this goal off the list after this week. I think I’m good on the water front.)

★ Complete three strength training sessions at the gym (Got to get back on track somehow!)

★ Run my usual 6km route around Iron Cove twice

★ Complete two yoga sessions

★ Make and drink three green smoothies

★ Write three blog posts (This is important and you’ll find out why next Sunday.)

What are your goals for the week? If you have any tips on how to push through with fitness goals when the rest of your week has been a disaster, I’d love to hear them. I need all the help I can get!
