February Favourites

I had such a blast thinking about my monthly favourites in January that I’ve decided to do it again for February! Without further ado, here are my February favourites.

February favourites

Lush Brazened Honey Fresh Face Mask. I’ve used this three times now since I picked it up earlier this month, and I love it. (Obviously, otherwise it wouldn’t be considered a favourite.) It’s refreshing but the Ayurvedic herbs and spices give it a distinct smell that not everyone may warm to. My nose picks up the almond and honey notes, though, so I think it’s great. My skin feels fabulous when I wash this off. It helps control my oily skin, reduces inflammation, and the gentle exfoliants leave my skin feeling smooth and soft. It has a short shelf-life, though, and I keep it in the fridge to stretch it out to about 3-4 weeks.

Mario Badescu Drying Lotion. In my January favourites I mentioned that I wanted to find my next favourite acne treatment cream, and I found it! My skin had an awful mid-month freak out and I had all sorts of breakouts on my chin and cheeks. I even had one rogue spot on my temple. I blame the heat and my proclivity to sweat bucketloads for this. A lovely girl at the Mecca counter in Myer recommended the Mario Badescu Drying Lotion, and she’s a genius. It’s fast-acting and budget-friendly, and it cleared up the worst of my irritations within 2-3 days. It smells hideous and sits very obviously on the skin, so I only use it at night, but it’s incredibly effective.

The Body Shop Vitamin E Lip Care SPF 15. This lip balm has saved my lips this month. It’s been so hot and humid in Sydney this month that without the included SPF 15 in this baby I would have been in a bad way after a bit too much time in the sun. It helps keep my lips smooth and soft, and I can’t wait to see how well it works in winter.

Zoeva Luxe Colour Blush in Last Love. I uploaded a heartbreaking photo earlier this month of the state of my NARS blush, and I did some research in Sephora on a lunch break a couple of weeks ago. I came across this Zoeva blush on the tester shelf but was devastated when I couldn’t find a product for purchase–they were out of stock. I finally got my hands on one last week and I’m obsessed. It’s pigmented AF and on my skin it looks like NARS Orgasm but without the shimmer. A little goes a long way, so if you give this one a go don’t be heavy-handed with it.

Look at this colour. How could I not be obsessed?

The Captive Prince Trilogy by C.S. Pacat. While reading a good standalone book is fun, there’s nothing I find more satisfying than a perfectly executed series. It’s a rare thing to find a trilogy that gets better with each book (most often I find that book two is the strongest) and feels so accomplished and well-rounded by the end that you flat-out refuse to leave the world. That is how I feel about the Captive Price trilogy. I’ll be writing a longer piece about why I love this series so much, but it’s been described as Game of Thrones meets Brokeback Mountain with some Gladiator thrown in, and if you’re interested by that description then you should definitely pick it up. I also had the brilliant fortune of recording a podcast with the author, which you can check out here should you wish to listen.

And that’s it for the month. What have you been loving this month? Let me know in the comments, or link me to your favourites post!
